Great Southern Rail in the community

At Great Southern Rail we are committed to helping the Outback communities through which our trains travel to survive and flourish. Our two Charity Partners, The Royal Flying Doctors Service and the Returned Services League of Australia, both provide essential services and support for our fellow Australians and we are proud of our commitment to these causes.

The Royal Flying Doctors Service provides lifesaving medical assistance and essential health services to regional and remote communities across Australia through their network of Flying Doctors. Great Southern Rail support the RFDS through the annual Indian Pacific Outback Christmas train which raises funds and awareness for the RFDS each Christmas. GSR also supports the fundraising activities of the RFDS throughout the regions that we travel to the value of $100,000 each year.

The Returned Services League of Australia provides welfare and financial assistance to veterans and ex-service men and women across Australia while also promoting advocacy and representation, commemoration and remembrance for the Australian Defence Force. Great Southern Rail supports the RSL through ‘The Ghan’s ANZAC Tribute’ event which raises funds and awareness for the RSL.

Great Southern Rail receive many requests from charities and community groups for financial support and donations and we regret that we are unable to provide assistance to causes other than those of our preferred Charity Partners.
